Health Forum | Wilderness Safety

Join Jason Buchovecky, BSN, RN, of Bozeman Health Emergency Department for a discussion on wilderness safety. Jason was a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) instructor for 15 years working month-long backcountry trips and continues to spend time in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and hiking. His approach to wilderness safety focuses on knowledge and training while understanding the many variables associated with backcountry travel. No matter what activity you plan for your next trip into the backcountry, you need to know how to have fun and get home safe. Jason will discuss wilderness safety from the perspectives of mindset, preparation, and actions. Expect the unexpected when heading out into the backcountry by being prepared. Some of the topics to be covered as time allows: · Wilderness first aid kits and training resources · Changing seasons, changing gear · Local and national resources · Navigation concepts
