The Gwich’in call this “The sacred place where life begins”: Stories from the Arctic Refuge

Come join the Wilderness Society, Alaska Wilderness League, Sierra Club, and Stand.earth for some snacks, drinks, and inspiring images as we show two short films highlighting the threat to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and provide an update on the growing campaign to protect this special place. "Welcome to Gwichyaa Zhee", a short film by filmmaker Greg Balkin and Dr. Len Necefer that features an intimate look at the Gwich’in community of Fort Yukon, Alaska and their quest to protect their home. "Where Life Begins," is a short film by filmmaker Katie Shuler with additional content provided by Kristin Gates and Jeremy Lazelle. The film explores the inseparable bond between mother and child, and the sacred and fragile moments after birth and the importance of protecting "the sacred place where life begins."
