Wonderlust Friday Forum

Wonderlust Friday Forum: The Global Refugee Crisis and Bozeman’s Refugee Connection

Friday, September 13 from 12:00 -1:30 PM

While the numbers of people at the US-Mexican border seeking safety continue to command our attention, there are other wide-ranging issues and changes to longstanding tradition that are affecting the nearly 30 million refugees* around the world.

Amanda Cater, founding member of Gallatin Refugee Connections, will present a program about refugees—who they are and where they come from, how they get to Montana, and an overview of the system for sheltering them and helping them to rebuild their lives in the United States—and how we can help.

*Refugees are persons who are unable or unwilling to return to their country of origin or nationality because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution because of race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.  In 2018, nearly half of refugees were under 18 years old.  Most refugees are mothers with children.

Free. No registration required. We hope you will join us!

Friday Forum is a montly speaker series sponsored by MSU Wonderlust, a nonprofit organization affiliated with Montana State University's Extended University and hosted by the Bozeman Public Library. It is free and is open to the public. Brown bag lunches are encouraged. Coffee and tea are provided.
