Embodying a blend of Americana roots and contemporary finesse, Damn Tall Buildings' musical journey transcends borders. From intimate local venues to global stages, their magnetic sound captivates audiences, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of listeners worldwide.

Reflecting on his journey, Ballotta's life has always been intertwined with music. It began with the pivotal moment of acquiring his first fiddle at Bozeman High's used instrument swap and continued through his education, including participation in orchestras at various academic levels, such as middle school, high school, and college (MSU Symphony). Over the years, he immersed himself in music, participating in string quartets, small ensembles, and lively sessions at the local farmers' market during Montana summers. Even his upbringing in the homeschool community and his years as a competitive gymnast at Lone Mountain Gymnastics nurtured his path toward a musical career, fostering collaborations with institutions like Montana Ballet Co. and Sweet Pea Festival.

Beginning his collegiate pursuits at Montana State University in 2009, Ballotta majored in music technology. In addition to playing in the MSU symphony, he received exceptional guidance from all his professors, especially in composition from Eric Funk and violin from Angella Ahn.

In 2012, Ballotta's journey led him to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he pursued a major in Film Scoring. Under the mentorship of esteemed figures like Bruce Molsky and Darol Anger, along with the support of his peers, he began to delve into the rich tapestry of American roots music. Now, after 12 years, he returns to his hometown, eager to showcase his musical evolution on the stage of one of his cherished venues from his youth, The Ellen Theatre.
