Hailing from five corners of the United States, the members of Calvin and The Coal Cars came together in the spring of 2018 in Red Lodge, MT. Since their inception they have made high energy country music based on the traditional sounds they grew up with. The band’s foundation is the songwriting of Lee Calvin and Brian Wetzstein, with a killer rhythm section and the tried and true country sounds of pedal steel guitar and telecaster. Since forming the band they guys have had the honor of sharing the stage with some of country music’s mainstays such as Asleep at The Wheel, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Byrd, Whitey Morgan and The 78’s, Sawyer Brown, Kip Moore, and many others. In 2019 Calvin and The Coal Cars were honored at the Magic City Music Awards, winning “Country Act of The Year”, “New Band of The Year”, as well as placing third with their song “Gypsy Girl” in the “Best Original Song” category. They have since recorded two studio albums at Jereco Studios in Bozeman, MT and recently released a new single, “Edge of This Town”.
