Youth Arts in Action, has been fulfilling its mission to inspire educate and sponsor outstanding young artists for over six years. On Saturday January 7th YAA will present its annual benefit event, “Fairy Tea for the Arts…Russia!” at Bozeman’s historic Gallatin Gateway Inn from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. This year’s event celebrates Russian Christmas Day and is appropriate for all ages. It will feature a magical Tea with fairy-themed tables, Russian treats including Turkish Delight, Russian handicrafts including Matryoshka dolls, art prints by Russian artist Nicholas Roerich, and much more from the old world artisans at the famous craft markets of Moscow.

For children, there will be photos in an enchanting Fire Fairy throne with Russian favorites, Father Frost and the Snow Maiden. Enjoy a behind the scenes look at the amazing restoration of Moscow’s famous Bolshoi Theatre, presented by Montana dancers Julian and Nicholas MacKay, who train full time at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow. Plus, you’ll receive a FREE surprise Russian gift!

Over the years YAA has helped hundreds of young Montanans to discover and to attend world-class programs aimed at professional careers in the arts. YAA sponsored artists have been accepted to and attended international programs such as The Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia, the Kirov Academy in Washington DC, the Bel Canto Institute for opera in Florence, Italy, American Ballet Theatre in New York City, Royal Ballet School in London, England, School of American Ballet in New York City, and many more.

YAA’s Executive Director, Teresa Khan MacKay, was honored recently with a letter from Governor Schweitzer commending her on her efforts to make opportunities in art available to young Montanans. He said, “your commitment is an inspiration.” Khan MacKay’s inspiration has come from being a professional artist since the age of 12. Her love of beauty has taken her around the world and seen her work in many professions including Haute Couture in Paris and New York, marketing, modeling, teaching, photography, costume design, creating children’s environments and producing children’s products. She is also a Montessori Teacher and Right Brain Education Specialist. She has been a business owner and paid public speaker since the age of 22, speaking on the importance of beauty and the arts, encouraging young people to pursue their dreams. Young and old alike will enjoy the magical transformation of the Gallatin Gateway Inn through the beautiful table centerpieces and Russian culture on display at the Fairy Tea for the Arts…Russia. Children are welcome to come dressed in their fairy best! Seating is limited and tickets must be purchased by January 6th and will not be available at the door.
