Educator of the Year award/Montana Ambassadors: Waded Cruzado
Montana State University President Waded Cruzado received the
2011 “Michael P. Malone” Educator of the Year award from the Montana
Ambassadors at its 2012 Annual Meeting and Conference in Billings on
Thursday, March 22.
The Montana Ambassadors is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization whose
members are appointed by the Governor and serve as official Ambassadors of
the State of Montana to assist the Montana Department of Commerce and the
Governor’s Office of Economic Development with their business, trade and
tourism promotion activities.
Each year, the Montana Ambassador Educator of the Year honors a Montana
educator who has “demonstrated outstanding accomplishment, excellence and
leadership in the field of education,” and embodies the values of former
Montana State University President, Dr. Michael Malone.
In presenting the award to President Cruzado, Governor Brian Schweitzer
said of her, “There’s a whole new energy in Montana because of Waded
Cruzado,” and “Montana State is being recognized around the world.”
Also during the ceremony, Sarah Calhoun, founder of Red Ants Pants,
received the award for Montana Ambassador Entrepreneur of the Year, and
Frank McAllister, chairman & CEO of Stillwater Mining Company, was honored
as Montana Ambassador Business of the Year.
