CAP Mentee Comments 2011-2012

What have you learned through your relationship with your mentor?

That when you work really hard, it all pays off in the end.

I have learned how to communicate with people better and also what it is like to have someone you trust completely.

To accept who someone is, and to enjoy your time with that person.

Being with my mentor, I have learned that there are some people that actually care.

Doing good in school is important.

I have learned that it helps to talk things over and its nice to have a break every once in awhile.

In life people need help and can’t always do stuff by themselves.

It is fun to hang out with people older than you. You can make friends with whoever you want.

Cat is the bomb and I will miss her dearly when I am out of school.

Even though I feel like my life is so bad no one can understand it, my mentor tries to and most often does and helps me through it, she is like my new best friends/sister and I love being around her.

Has your relationship changed how you feel about yourself? How you feel about school? If so, in what ways?

Yes, it has changed how I feel about myself and school because it made me feel better about myself and about school.

My relationship with my mentor has inspired me to try even harder to learn, so I may be as wise as him.

I think my time with Judy has made me appreciate who I am more.

Yes it has, he makes it fun at school and I always look forward to when he is coming.

Yeah a little, she’s super nice and makes me feel good about myself and stuff!

Yes, she makes me want to go to school.

More positive than before — used to feel shy.

I feel better about my self and a little better about school.

Has the CAP Program helped you academically? If so, how?

It has helped me be more organized and helped me better understand things that normally I’m not good at.

My CAP has helped me keep up my grades every week we check my grades and see what we can do to improve them.

Yes, it does because I love going to school Mondays.

I now know college math!

Yeah, because I’m less stressed and can focus better on my work.

Is there anything else you want us to know about this program, your experience in it, or your mentor? If so, what?

I have no questions. I’d just like to say THANK YOU!

No, I have been having a great time with my CAP mentor. But there is one thing…I would like to spend more time with her like hours and days.

I think this program is fun, because it gives students like me something fun to look forward to during the week and gives us somewhat of a break from some things in school, that is for me.

I like it a lot and it’s good for kids to have someone to talk to.

My mentor is like my big sis and I know I can always go to her to talk stuff out. Thank you for giving me the chance to have this experience. Thank you very much.
