My Name is Farch and I am the Future
It’s not as if every rapper you approach wouldn’t tell you that they are the future, well the young rappers will anyway. But when Jesse Frohreich, aka Farch, says it you get more than an inkling that he is on to something more than braggadocio. Armed with Mensa-like intelligence, slapstick punch-lines, and wit quicker than an avalanche, Farch has rapidly become the northwest’s premiere artist in the realm of rap and the culture of hip hop. With less than a year of “stars lining up” under his belt, you would be hard pressed to find many artists in the region with the confidence and unweilding potential to be the rap artist that gains national attention and brings it back home to the Helena Valley and northwest region.
“I had accepted the fact that I must leave to achieve” Farch says, as he struggled with moving to Seattle. “They would have called me out quickly in Seattle, and I owe my state more than to leave them hanging.” It’s not hard to tell that Farch has an attachment to his city, and it is reciprocated. “Just pumping gas can leave me a little taken back lately”, he explains “now people are really noticing me away from the stage, its an amazing feeling.”
Farch’s latest release ‘Villain’ is the ultimate truth in life, one of the central components of being labeled as real in hip hop. “Everything I say is the truth” he boasts, “I have the ability to give the listener whatever they need musically. If they want to bump, I got that, if they want to reflect, I got that, the best bars and songs, I got that.” The mixtape gives a full display of the diversity that lies within the revolving and evolving mind of Farch. Each track highlights his story so far, told with the most vivid colors and arrangements, which were also produced by Farch and his KidWasp crew. Internet bloggers and newspapers have noted that ‘Villain’ is an important release for the culture and region. If the listener wanted to know what a kid from Montana could have to rap about, the answers would provide universal enlightenment, in that, no matter the place the stories can be similar. “Valley to Rodney” highlights his childhood, while titles like ‘The Comedown” shows his growth even within the same project. The mixtape album also features a Drake beat that many say Farch made better.
“I was just trying to be a producer and sell some quality beats” says Farch “But I eventually wound up in a really dark place in my life, if it weren’t for Colter (the motivator) I would have wound up...different.” With nothing but military recruiters calling, Farch felt as if there was nothing more for him, until December 28th, 2014 when he received a text from his mom telling him his dad had lost his 20 plus year job at the mine. Instead of the feeling of despair he was growing accustomed to he found the ultimate in motivation. Within just a few months, he had become the hottest commodity on the rap market. Watching him control a crowd with his unorthodox approach to performing is not lost in the fact that the young man can rap, very well.
Farch has taken the fire and fear of failure and created a brand. A brand that embodies the storytelling, boasting, and entertainment qualities of a true star. Now armed with mentor Traff the Wiz and new manager Levon Allen of Show Love Ent., Farch is posed not only as the future, but as the now.
