August in Bozeman is a hot month of exciting events, water recreation opportunities, back-to-school activities and the general hustle and bustle of MSU students returning. August 2021 marks the 44th year of the Sweet Pea Festival, Bozeman’s longest running and very popular Arts & Music Festival. This year’s festivities begin on Tuesday, August 3 with Chalk on the Walk downtown, the Bit of Bozeman on Wednesday, Music on Main on Thursday, festival gates open at Lindley Park Friday at 3:30 p.m., music begins at 6 p.m. with The Jacob Joliff Band followed by Langhorne Slim at 8 p.m. Find the rest of Sweet Pea’s sweet entertainment info at https://sweetpeafestival.org/. Summer SLAM Festival is Bozeman’s newer arts and music festival, voted 2021’s #1 Bozeman’s Choice Music Festival. The 2021 Summer SLAM will look a little different this year hosting 45+ Montana artists at 3 locations: Bogert Park, Story Mansion Park, and the Emerson Lawn on August 7th (ONE DAY ONLY) from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.. Another August Bozeman tradition focused on welcoming MSU students to town and back to school is Catapalooza. Catapalooza 2021 will be in-person on Monday, August 23 from 10am-3 p.m. on the Centennial Mall at Montana State University. At the end of the week, Bridger Brewing will be hosting their 4th annual Back to School Block Party featuring 2021 Bozeman’s Choice Cover Band Pinky & the Floyd. The concert is in the Bridger Brewing parking lot on August 27 at 7 p.m., tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door, all ages welcome.
