A Labor of Love Bringing the Brown Genius of WEEN to Town
Get ready, local music fans for a series of highly-anticipated concerts coming to our area, featuring OBJECT, a truly unique and tribute band dedicated to the eclectic and electric rock music of the legendary band, WEEN.
This project is far more than just a typical cover band; it is a tried and true passion project, born from a shared musical goal first realized over 5 years ago, when some of the area’s best musicians got together for what was to be a one-night only experience. That singular performance, driven by pure excitement and mutual admiration, was a resounding success. An amazing night came and went, and it was burned into the brains of all attendees at the sold-out show. Days and nights passed by, which turned into weeks and years. During that time, one of the players from that evening and local legend Joe Knapp passed away, right as COVID crept into the world, and things everywhere got weird for a while. Stranger than fiction weird. Though the musicians went their separate ways for a period, the magic of that night lingered and the joy of the music was never forgotten.
Thankfully for local fans, the band was revived years later in the fall of 2024, after many discussions between the friends, who knew that ultimately they needed to see what would happen with the same people in the room again. After a couple jams, they quickly realized that their combined talent and chemistry were too good to keep dormant. Like the Blues Brothers, they were on a mission, theirs just happened to be for Boognish.
While each member has a respected career and presence in the local music scene, they collectively found a new inspiration and creative energy in tackling WEEN’s vast and complex catalog, from hitting the blistering pace and breakneck energy of the bands heaviest jams, to the tender ballads, honky-tonk tearjerkers, and psychedelic journeys. This project isn’t just a technical exercise; it’s a labor of love that allows these seasoned professionals to delve into the fun, bizarre, and brilliant world of Gean and Dean Ween. Tim Rooney, co-frontman of this headlining act deserves the bulk of the credit for putting together this revisited line up. Tim will be singing/screaming his head off, and ripping guitar as well. Adam Lee Crowson will be taking you back to Basom and handle low end duties to accompany his powder blue vocals. Bill Hyland will be driving you crazy with his boogie oogie oogie on lead guitar and background harmonies. The keyboards will be in the capable hands of one of Montana’s finest, Mike Koziel who strokes every key like an ace. Finally, tearing a rift out in space with his super sonic rhythmic vibrations is the prolific local legend, Brett Goodell.
Last winter OBJECT played a series of successful shows that had crowds going mad, and they realized that this band now had a life of its own to live. Set lists were made. Song ideas were thrown around and arranged. Drums were banged. Guitars were strummed. Microphones were screamed into. Keys were tickled, faces were melted, and the people were so very happy.
Here they are once again to bring the sound of the Brown to the Bozone and L-Town. Don’t miss the chance to experience the technical prowess and infectious enthusiasm of OBJECT as they pay tribute to one of rock’s most influential and unconventional bands right here in real time!
