Letter From the Editor: WInter

Angie Ripple

As we enter into the nineteenth year of publishing a monthly magazine for the community of Bozeman, it is a little hard to believe we’ve been doing it so long. In 2007, with a 10-month old daughter, if you’d told me we would go on to publish 222 issues, 11 Bozeman’s Choice Readers’ Polls, and at least a dozen Food Scene Dining Guides, and leave a significant mark on the greater Bozeman area with our print and online content, I’m not sure I would have believed it was possible. But, as a kid growing up on the Flathead Reservation in Northwestern Montana, making pencil-drawn newspapers with my brother and friends, I had big dreams of exactly what I’ve now been doing for nearly two decades, and I am intensely devoted to causes I believe in, including connecting the community of Bozeman to people, places and events that interest them.

Over the past twelve months, I have received more positive feedback from the community about the impact Bozeman Magazine is having than ever before. What once seemed like a thankless job has turned into continuous thanks and gratitude from readers, advertisers, event producers, and Bozeman’s Choice winners who value the effort we’ve put forth to create a sought-after publication distributed each and every month to the places where active lifestyle Bozemanites, newcomers, and visitors find it. Special thanks to Richard Nelson, Cate Wright, Josey Branch, and Bob Newt, who just in the last few weeks have expressed their gratitude for the work we do for the community, it means a lot to hear from you!

This issue’s theme is Winter Wisdom. We are starting the year with a focus on seasonal rhythm, slowing down, and finding peace in nature despite the cold. Inside our pages this month, you will find a Top 10 list of places to unplug, thoughtful book ideas, ways to reclaim winter, winter camping, events that will help you fight winter funk, and more!

As always, the Greater Yellowstone Events Calendar has exciting events that will bring you closer to those in the community who share your interests. We love to hear from you when you find an event that you love, and connect with new people in Bozeman who have helped bring you joy. New events are added daily to the calendar on our website bozemanmagazine.com.

May winter wisdom find you this month. Thank you for reading.
