Top 10 Bozeman Running Clubs

Once upon a time, the loneliness of long-distance running was part of its mystique. No longer. With over 50 million regular runners in America, the mystique is gone, and with it the necessity of solitude. Running groups and running clubs now occupy a sizable share of many runners’ routines. Whether you’re looking to socialize or to be pushed harder in training, the Gallatin Valley offers a range of groups building community for runners. Clubs are always beginning and ending new chapters; this list is subject to change.
The Bozeman Racing Project
The Bozeman Racing Project Nearby Races page/tab at RunSignUp serves as the online hub of organized local runs of many types, including virtual, fundraising, challenges, fun runs, 5K’s, and marathons. From all of our research, this project may be the most up-to-date and accurate source for all-thing-Bozeman-running.
Bozeman Run Club
Bozeman Run Club is a free, community-organized group that meets every Tuesday Night at the MSU track at 6 p.m., Friday mornings at 6:30 a.m. at Treeline Coffee Roasters on North Wallace, and Saturday mornings at rotating trail or road locations throughout the greater Bozeman area. It’s intentionally inclusive, welcoming runners (and hikers) of all abilities, from folks out for a 2-3-mile jog to seasoned trail runners tackling longer distances. Each group is low-key, sociable, and volunteer-led, with post-run snacks or hangouts common, and weekly leaders bringing their own personality to each run.
Big Sky Wind Drinkers
BSWD is one of Bozeman’s oldest and most established running clubs. Founded in 1973, its mission is to promote fitness, fun, and support for runners of all ages and levels. They host free, non-competitive “fun runs” weekly in the summer, and monthly in the winter, with multiple course options to suit different paces. The club also organizes a year-round calendar of races and social activities, from trail challenges to the historic Bridger Ridge Run. As a nonprofit, they give back to the community through scholarships, and support for youth programs.
5K Brew Run Series
Bozeman Running Company hosts a variety of seasonal social events that mix fitness with fun, such as the 5K Brew Run series. These 5Kish runs start and finish at local breweries, include a craft beer at the end (for runners of a certain age), and feature raffles and post-run social time. They’re all about celebrating running and local culture in a relaxed setting, and have a finger on the pulse of local running.
Lady Runners: Bozeman
Lady Runners: Bozeman is a grassroots running group focused on connecting women runners across the Gallatin Valley. Whether members are new to running or have years of experience, the Facebook group strives to create a supportive, empowering space where women can run together, share experiences, and encourage one another’s progress. Runs and meetups tend to be social and inclusive, fostering friendships as much as fitness. Join the private group on Facebook to keep up to date and join in on runs.
MSU/Youth Running Groups
Youth and university-linked running groups in Bozeman are often centered around the Bozeman Track Club and Montana State University activities. The Bozeman Track Club offers cross-country and track & field programs for middle and high school athletes, as well as community trail running sessions that help young runners develop skills and enjoy the sport. While MSU’s formal running club scene can vary from year to year, social runs and training meetups around campus and nearby trails are common among students and local youth.
Trail Sisters
Trail Sisters is a local chapter of the national women’s trail running community, focused on increasing participation and connection among women who love running and hiking on trails around Bozeman. This group tends to host regular trail runs, social meetups, and Instagram-based coordination, making it an inviting space for women of all levels to support each other’s running goals. It’s especially friendly to those new to trail running and looking for company on local terrain.
Community Strava Running Clubs
Strava clubs are popular with local runners in Bozeman for organizing virtual and in-person meetups, sharing favorite routes, and tracking progress together. These online communities help runners of all levels find partners, set personal goals, and stay motivated by seeing each other’s activities and achievements within the app.
Gallatin Valley Community Runs
Beyond organized clubs, there are many informal groups and ad-hoc runs within the Gallatin Valley running scene—often coordinated through social media, Meetup, or Strava. Runners will post local meetups for routes ranging from easy neighborhood jogs to challenging trail outings on local favorite terrain like the “M,” Peets Hill, or South Cottonwood. These informal runs are flexible and emphasize community connection as much as training.
For the Future Sports
This local business focuses on children’s sports for ages 5-12. Their Summer Track and Field Program Summer Youth Track and Field program is run under the oversight of the USA Track and Field governing body. Along with normal practices, internal track meets will be thrown in order for younger and less experienced athletes to get a feel for how a meet is run. The Track program ends just before the Big Sky State Games so that athletes can compete in the events if they choose.
