Montana Made Film 'Crimson Winter' At The Ellen Theatre

Interwoven Studios, a Montana based production company founded by a group of Montana natives and Carroll Alumni, is pleased to bring its first feature film Crimson Winter to the Ellen Theater for a special one night premiere event this Saturday, February 1st at 7:30pm. The event will include a screening of the film, special behind the scenes footage and a Q&A with the filmmakers. To reserve tickets, contact the Ellen Theatre box office at (406) 585-5885.

A dramatic vampire thriller, Crimson Winter started as Carroll College Charlie's Film Festival entry and after a successful showing Bryan Ferriter, the writer, director and lead actor, decided to raise half a million dollars and Crimson Winter has since blossomed into full length feature film.

Ferriter had a vision as a Carroll football player and theatre major. He joined forces with other football buddies Brandon Day and Nick Milodragovich who both co-produced and acted in the film; theatre pal Ryan Pfeiffer who co-wrote and acted in the film; and friend and Carroll alum Isaac Marble who produced the film. The film was shot in 33 days entirely in Helena and utilized the talents of over 40 crew members and 60 actors, many Montana based.

The first of three, the film is an ensemble piece that follows Elric (Bryan Ferriter), a vampire prince exiled by his family who has taken up residence in the mountains of Montana, and Dylan (Nick Milodragovich), a human graduate student who ventures into the wilderness with a group to investigate the mysterious disappearance of wildlife. Unknown to either, Dylan is the last piece in a centuries old puzzle, and a fated prophecy is set in motion to unite the races of human and vampire. While Dylan and his friends fights to survive, Elric must revisit his dark past to determine the fate of the young researchers.

Special premiere DVD's and soundtracks will be for sale at the The Ellen Theatre for the Saturday showing. Although the film is not rated, the filmmakers request that parents treat the film as though it was rated "R". The Ellen Theatre will not allow anyone under 17 into the event without an adult.

Interwoven Studios currently has a team in Los Angeles and Helena, and the company has two more feature films, My Favorite Movie and What Separates Us, that will be released later this year.

Cost: $10
