University Chorus, University Band and Brass Choir Concert

This December 3rd concert features the the MSU University Chorus
and University Band. The University Choir will sing In the Bleak Mid-Winter,
the Gloria from Mozart's Coronation Mass, Jul, Jul by Nordqvist and will
finish with Mack Wilberg's lively arrangement of Fun, Fum, Fum! for
four-hand piano.

The University Band and the MSU Brass Choir will perform a number of holiday selections including: excerpts from the Nutcracker, the band classic "Chorale and Shaker Dance" (based on the same theme that Copland used in his "Appalachian Spring"), a jazzed-up version of "Oh Christmas Tree," and a Riverdance-meets-theme-from-Titanic arrangement of "What Child is This." The concert will close with the Leroy Anderson favorite "A Christmas Festival" featuring a combined performance with all of the musicians and audience.

Reception and decorations provided by the National honor fraternity of Kappa Kappa Psi. Parking is free after 6:00pm on weekdays. Tickets available at the door.

The University Band is a campus-wide ensemble open to students of all majors as well as members of the campus community. The group rehearses three times a week to prepare for performances, which feature the most popular (and fun) music in the concert band repertoire. The ensemble accepts new members at the beginning of each semester.

The Brass Choir is directed by MSU brass professor, Natalie Fuller. Dr. Fuller began her appointment this August, and comes to us from the Eastman School of Music where she studied brass performance.

Cost: $10/5
