Judy Collins

Grammy winner Judy Collins is coming back to Bozeman. Three years ago, a packed Ellen crowd was entertained by the dazzling Ms. Collins with her unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes. Make a date with your Valentine for Saturday, February 14 to enjoy a music legend in the intimate surroundings of The Ellen Theatre. Noted for her rendition of Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now on her 1967 album, Wildflowers, Ms. Collins is a member of the Grammy Hall of Fame and her recording of Stephen Sondheim’s Send in the Clowns won Song of the Year at the 1975 Grammy Awards.
Ms. Collins released her first album, A Maid of Constant Sorrow, at the age of 22 and began a thirty-five year association with Elektra Records, interpreting the songs of fellow artists, particularly social poets Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs and Tom Paxton. She was also instrumental in bringing other singer-songwriters to a wider audience including musicians Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman.
A true folk music pioneer, Ms. Collins has enjoyed decades of success. In 2010, Collectors’ Choice Music reissued nine digitally re-mastered CDs of Collins’ Elektra titles: Fifth Album (1965), In My Life (1966), Whales & Nightingales (1970), True Stories & Other Dreams (1973), Bread & Roses (1976), Running for My Life (1980), Times of Our Lives (1982), Home Again (1984) and Christmas at the Biltmore (1997).
Ms. Collins continues to write, perform, and nurture fresh talent while playing 80 to 100 dates a year. She is truly a modern day Renaissance woman who is also an accomplished painter, filmmaker, record label head and musical mentor. Tackling the important subject of mental health care, Ms. Collins is also an in-demand keynote speaker and continues to create music of hope and healing.
Tickets for The Ellen Theatre performance are $29 for the upper balcony and $52 for mezzanine and main floor seating.
