Hope Into Practice

Join us for an event of timely importance and long-lasting hope and inspiration featuring peace and justice activist and academic Dr. Penny Rosenwasser on September 30, 2015.  She has been speaking about her latest, award-winning book, Hope Into Practice: Jewish Women choosing Justice Despite our Fears, which will be available at the event.  Penny’s interactive talk will feature Hope into Practice to offer a rich blend of healing stories, fascinating history, and a fair-minded perspective on Israel-Palestine.   Linking personal healing with social justice, it’s a call to repair the world!

Specifically Dr. Rosenwasser will speak on September 30th in the SUB Ballroom B at 7:00PM followed by questions and answers.  A reception will follow to facilitate further conversations. On October 1st, she will meet community members in another event open to the public at Temple Beth Shalom, one of the event’s co-sponsors.

Dr. Rosenwasser also brings extensive and varied experience with and writings about:

  • Visionary Voices, Women on Power: Conversations with Shamans, Activists, Teachers, Artists and Healers;
  • Voices from a 'Promised Land': Palestinian and Israeli Peace Activists Speak their Hearts; and
  • Women Behind Bars, with Jeanne Mackey.

Dr. Rosenwasser's combination of action research along with social change practice have been embraced by some of the leading peace, justice and women’s studies and human rights organizations in the United States and internationally.  We envision her event’s themes and the invited co-sponsoring organizations will foster and facilitate a unique opportunity to build bridges, inspire courage and positive action across many differences that challenge ourselves personally, culturally and politically today.

Co-sponsoring organizations are the MSU Offices of Diversity Awareness and Office of International Programs; Women’s Center, MSU Departments of Political Science and History, Pholosophy and Religious Studies; College of Letters and Sciences, Program in Women’s and Gender Studies, Queer-Straight Alliance, and the Office of the MSU President.  In addition to the support of Temple Beth Shalom, the Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association, Montana NOW and Community Mediation Center are co-sponsoring partners.
