Film: 'The Experimenter'

In 1961, social psychologist Stanley Milgram conducted "obedience experiments" at Yale University. Peter Sarsgaard stars in The Experimenter, a smart, unsettling exploration of Milgram’s questionable experiment testing people’s allegiance to malevolent authority, and potentially exposing the dark heart of mankind. Roger Moore of Movie Nation calls The Experimenter, "dark and yet cinematically playful." The film co-stars Winona Ryder, John Lugiuzamo and Anthony Edwards. Rated PG-13, running time is 90 minutes. Winter Light, a short film adapted from a story by bestselling author James Lee Burke, will open the evening. When an aging college professor confronts two hunters trespassing on his property, he begins an escalating battle of wills that will test his faith in everything he holds dear. From the winners of Ron Howard’s Project Imagination contest, Winter Light is a modern-day revisionist Western set in the frozen wilderness of Montana. Directed by Julian Higgins, the 30 minute short was filmed on location in Missoula and Arlee, Montana.
