“Come to the North Country” Historic Tour

The Historic Preservation Board of Gallatin County will be sponsoring a tour of historically important sites in the Springhill, Reese Creek, Pass Creek and Menard areas on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 10am – 4pm. 

The Theme, “Come to the North Country” has significant purpose in introducing the areas north of Bozeman and its history to the public who wish to view them.   There will be 11 sites to view on the day of the tour.  There will be guides/signs to help locate and learn the history of each site.  Participants will provide their own transportation and sites may be viewed in any order. 

Tickets are $10.00 per person (12 and under free when accompanied by an adult) Tickets can be purchased at any site the day of the tour. Tickets will also be on sale by July 25 at the following ticket outlets: Belgrade Chamber of Commerce, Gallatin History Museum, Manhattan Area Museum. Gallatin County Commissioners’ Office, Three Forks Heritage Museum,  and Lewis and Clark Motel.

The sites for the Historic Tour that can be viewed in any order on August 13 are:   East Gallatin Cemetery,  Reese Creek School house , Reese Creek Cemetery (point of interest)  Springhill Church,  Springhill School, Springhill Cemetery, Flathead Pass at the Timberline Ranch, Pass Creek schoolhouse and Community Center* ,  Morgan CemeteryMorgan Homestead ( point of interest), and the Menard Grain Elevator.

There will be some individual sites that will hold their own fund raising activities in conjunction with the tour.  Also, demonstrations and booths will be set up at the Pass Creek Community Center for your viewing.  Come out and enjoy a day of the sights and sounds of history in the North Country!
