BFS presents 'Hunt For The Wilderpeople'
Raised on hip-hop and foster care, defiant city kid Ricky (Julian Dennison) gets a fresh start in the New Zealand countryside. He quickly finds himself at home with his new foster family: the loving Aunt Bella (Rima Te Wiata), the cantankerous Uncle Hec (a perfectly cast Sam Neill) and dog, Tupac. When a tragedy strikes that threatens to ship Ricky to another home, both he and Hec go on the run in the bush, prompting a national manhunt. Equal parts road comedy and rousing adventure story, director Taika Waititi (Flight of the Conchord member, and director of What We Do in the Shadows) masterfully weaves lively humor with emotionally honest performances. Newcomer Dennison is a marvel, completely unselfconscious in his portrayal of a kid who is lost but thinks that if he acts tough, it'll look like he's found. A hilarious and touching crowd-pleaser, Rolling Stone's David Fear calls Hunt for the Wilderpeople; "An oddball and oddly affecting take on two misfits finding their metaphorical partner-in-crime match." Garnering a rare 99% Rotten Tomato Score, this PG-13 rated film screens at 7:30 pm and runs 101 minutes.
The Bozeman Film Society is now pleased to offer technology that allows those with disabilities to fully take part in movie-going outings with family or friends. The state-of-the-art Fidelio system incorporates headsets with volume control for the hard of hearing or a descriptive system (DS) for the blind or visually impaired. This technology involves transmitting an audio description of scenes to moviegoers who wear a programmed wireless headset, providing an additional track of narration during natural pauses in the film. It describes the action and provides context when there is no dialogue to guide the moviegoer. Personal closed caption (CC) units called CaptiView screens are also available for hard of hearing patrons. Mounted on a cup-holder, CaptiView units allow those with hearing impairments to sit in the audience and read the dialogue as it happens onscreen. DS and CC service is available only for certain screenings (when visiting our website, please make note of the films that indicate DS or CC).
