Genius Loci – An International Symposium on the Oplontis Project

Hosted by Museum of the Rockies, the College of Art and Architecture, and the Office of the Provost, Montana State University will welcome distinguished scholars from institutions including the University of Naples, Italy, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and the National Gallery, Washington, D.C.

This symposium is composed of the scholars who are all members of the Oplontis Project, and so responsible for the extensive research and publication relating to the two Roman archaeological sites showcased in the exhibit Leisure and Luxury in the Age of Nero: The Villas of Oplontis Near Pompeii.

The all-day event is free and open to the public, and will foster learning and discovery across a range of disciplines including Roman history and art history, archaeology, architecture, and geology. More details will be available at montana.edu/caa/oplontissymposium as they become available.
