Montana Antique Appraisal Fair

Celebrity Appraisal Event Coming to Western Montana It's time to go digging through your attic for that garage sale find or family heirloom. Your special artifact could be worth more than you know. That’s why the Montana History Foundation and Gallatin History Museum are teaming up to bring two celebrity antiques appraisers to Bozeman to check out your treasures. Celebrity appraisers Timothy Gordon and Grant Zahajko are regularly seen on a national antiques appraisal show on PBS. They will meet with visitors at the Gallatin History Museum on May 13th as part of a fundraiser for the MHF and Gallatin History Museum. "Montana has its own unique flavor and history,” Gordon says. “I maintain that it's a pretty fascinating place compared to other western states. I feel it's got a bigger story to tell than other places in the West." For $15, the public can bring in treasures to find out their value. This could be a painting, sculpture, sports memorabilia or any other object or oddity. There are only two stipulations: a limit of two items per person and no firearms. Gordon says he’s seen items come through the door valued at six-figures. "What I find happens is people will bring something in and they'll have a generalized idea about what it is, but often times it's something different,” Gordon says. “Any given day something incredible can walk through the door and that's what the carrot is for the appraisers." First Interstate Bank will sponsor the event. It will run from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Gallatin History Museum 317 West Main Bozeman. Tickets are limited and can be purchased at 406.522.8122 or online at http://www.gallatinhistorymuseum.org/montana-antiques-appraisal-fair-ticket/
