Bat Walk

Come and explore the fascinating world of bats at the Kelly Ranch on the Gallatin River with bat expert Matt Bell, on a bat walk! As bats emerge to forage, ultrasound equipment will be used to hear bat echolocation. You’ll also learn the answers to questions like, “where do bats go in the winter, where do they go during the day, how do they catch their prey, and what kind of bats live in MT?” The Montana Land Reliance’s own Matt Bell will lead the bat walk. Matt has a BS in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana. Participants will also learn about the importance of protecting bat habitat and private land conservation in Montana. Space is limited to 35 participants at each program so you must pre-register. Please call Kathryn Kelly at 406-579-5481 or email kathryn@mtlandreliance.org to learn more and save your place. Bring a flashlight or headlamp.
