Soap Making with Susie
Learn how to make natural and beautiful soap! Soap making is a lot of fun and natural soap makes great gifts. Soap maker Susie Hartman will guide you through the basics of natural cold process soap making. This is a two-part workshop. Participants can take Session I, Session II or both! Session I will cover basic soap chemistry, lye safety, tools of the trade and natural colorants and scents. Working in groups, participants will create a vegetable oil soap with customized scents and colors that they will be able to take home with them at the end of class. Session II will cover embellishing your soap and demonstrations of advanced soap making techniques like swirling, layering, honeycomb and confetti. Participants will felt a bar of soap to take home with them. This session expands upon the skills taught in the basic soap workshop. Cost is $45 for Session I, $20 for Session II and $60 for both sessions (includes materials). Saturday, September 30, 2017 Session I: 10am - 1pm Session II: 2 - 3:30pm
