Fool for Love

Fool for Love by Sam Shepard
(Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama)

Sam Shepard's Fool for Love opens on Friday, November 24th, at The Eagles, 316 E. Main Street, downtown Bozeman.   Tickets are available in person at Vargo's Jazz City and Books, downtown Bozeman, or simply press the button at the bottom of this article (the button that says "Purchase Tickets for Fool for Love".

When Sam Shepard passed away this past summer, we lost one of the last great American playwrights of the 20th century, someone whose name deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as any number of other bright stars of the American stage: from Eugene O'Neill to Tennessee Williams to Edward Albee.  Sam Shepard is the fourth character in this play, inheriting, interrogating, and representing by way of an unflinching art a legacy of mad desires, wasted loves, suppressed passions, and blasted dreams in a century itself as worn down and dragged out as Edmund and Jamie, Stanley and Blanche, George and Martha (or even Beckett's Didi and Gogo) -- or Shepard's own Eddie and May, now come to the Eagles to tell you all; they shall tell you all.

Fool for Love, by the incomparable Sam Shepard, a couple examines their relationship as an old man offers insight into their past. Gordon Carpenter directs the cast of Will Dickerson, Mark Kuntz, Torie Laher, and Colter Langan.

“Mr. Shepard’s apache dance of a drama comes across not only as exciting theater but also as world-class literature, the kind that balances in-the-moment detail with an echoing sense of eternity.” –The New York Times
