Suffer Out Loud's May Workshop
What is Depression? Learning to understand, recognize, and help heal underlying causes and effects of depression in ourselves and others
Sally Jo Hand is an artist, musician, and therapist who believes that engaging people in experiences that involve both cognitive process (left brain function) as well as creative and emotional processes (right brain function) is the most effective way to help people suffering from anxiety, depression, grief, and losses recover stability and joy in life. Sally is passionate about helping hurting people find solutions that effect lasting change. She does this by combining art, play, music, horses, yoga, nature and compassionate listening in the therapy she provides both at the Heart and Hand Center located at the Emerson Cultural Center in Bozeman, and at the Heart and Hand Ranch and Retreat Center in the mountains 14 miles East of Bozeman in the Gallatins. Sally provides therapeutic experiences for individuals, families, and groups, helping people of all ages find renewed hope, happiness, and healing from the many ways life hurts us. Sally is a licensed mental health counselor in both WA (LMHC) and MT (LCPC) and has been a therapist for 18 years. She is also an ordained Christian minister whose faith embraces and accepts people of all beliefs.
Sally’s workshop for “Suffer Out Loud” will focus on exploring causes and effects of depression, how to recognize these in ourselves and in others, and what to do to make things better and prevent suicides.
