Kumihimo Cord Braiding
About the Workshop: In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn Kumihimo, a Japanese braiding technique that uses a disc and 8 strands to produce a beautiful round cord. There are so many fun applications including fiber jewelry, sunglass holders, drawstrings or added detail for clothing, the list is endless and Alayna's breadth of experience and creativity always sparks new ideas. You will learn 4 and 8 strand braiding with naturally dyed silk and will leave with a completed bracelet. The workshop fee also includes your own recycled kumihimo disc so you can continue to braid cord at home. You will also leave with a syllabus to help you continue practicing at home. About the Teacher: Alayna Rasile-Digrindakis is a textile artist and designer who works with natural fibers and plant dyes in her art practice as well as her collection of one of a kind clothing.
