James Sewell Ballet

James Sewell Ballet was founded in New York City by James Sewell and Sally Rousse and brought to Minnesota in 1993. Combining their expertise, vision and chutzpah they envisioned a close-knit company of dance artists willing to both challenge their physical limits and expand their notions about ballet. Over two decades later, critically acclaimed JSB performances move and delight audiences across the country. The embodiment of the original vision is a professional company of dancers performing innovative work that explores the technical boundaries of ballet.

In the 2018 Summer Conservatory at WMPAC, James Sewell began work on an innovative new ballet with one-man-band MARTIN DOSH (a.k.a. DOSH), the full collaborative ballet will premiere in Montana with James Sewell’s 6th Winter Performance at WMPAC.

DOSH is principally a percussionist who usually adds a Rhodes piano to his kit and uses other electronic devices such as samplers and looping pedals. He has been characterized as experimental/electronica due to his use of signal-altering devices in performance to allow him to create live solo performances using keyboards, tuned percussion, and drums.

Cost: $22 – $54
