The Big Sky Classical Music Festival is a three-day festival for people of all ages. This annual event showcases the best in classical music from around the world during two free outdoor performances in Big Sky’s Town Center Park, one ticketed indoor concert at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center, a youth music camp, and master classes for student musicians. As one of the only classical music festivals in the region, it is essential to raising cultural awareness and promoting classical music in Montana and beyond.

August 9-11, 2019: Schedule
• Friday, August 9: Chamber Concert with special guest Jonathan Gunn, along with violinists Yvonne Lam of Eighth Blackbird, Angella Ahn, and cellist John Eckstein. This opening night is a ticketed performance at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center. The Program includes:
Brahms Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op. 115

Weber Quintet for Clarinet & Strings in B flat major, Op. 34
3-4 Klezmer arrangements

6:30 p.m. Doors open at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center; located at the Ophir/Lone Peak school on Hwy. 191
7:30 p.m. Concert featuring clarinetist Jonathan Gunn, with violinists Yvonne Lam of Eighth Blackbird and Angella Ahn of the Ahn Trio, along with cellist John Eckstein.
• Saturday, August 10: Dallas Brass, free outdoor concert at Town Center Park. Since its founding in 1983 by Michael Levine, the Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles. The group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range and musical challenges. The Dallas Brass repertoire includes classical masterpieces, Dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood and patriotic music.
• Sunday, August 11: Big Sky Festival Orchestra with Maestro Peter Bay and soloist Jonathan Gunn. This year’s program includes Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 in A Major, and two selections from Ravel (Le Tombeau de Couperin and Pavane Pour Une Infant Defunte). This is a free concert at Town Center Park.
2:00 p.m. MSU Summer Music Conservatory concert, at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center. Free and open to the public.
4:00 p.m. Town Center Park opens. Free admission. Food and beverage vendors available.
5:00 p.m. Big Sky Festival Orchestra, under the direction of Peter Bay, Town Center Park. Guest soloist Jonathan Gunn, clarinet. Free.
