Bozeman Business & Professional Women’s December Luncheon
Join us on December 18th for an overview of the Fork & Spoon “Bozeman’s only pay what you can restaurant” and how it is helping our community be stronger and what we as community members can do to support their mission!
Fork & Spoon is a non-profit, pay-what-you-can restaurant that serves dinner six nights a week. They ensure that everyone in the community gets a delicious, scratch-cooked meal, whether they have money in their pocket that day or not. They rely on their paying customers, donations, sponsorships, and revenue from catering and special events to support this work.
The Fork and Spoon is a widely used community resource. In 2014, they served over 50,000 hot meals; over 80 individuals and families enjoy meals each evening, and our customers are from all walks of life. Families take their children out to dinner and are greeted by a host, seated at their table, a server offers the menu for the evening and their meal is delivered to their table. Older adults join us for social interaction. Teens and young adults who have ventured out on their own utilize Fork and Spoon for a balanced meal. Single working people stop by on their way home from work. In some cases, this restaurant provides folks their only meal of the day!
Leah Smutko– For the last 3 years, Leah has moved through the ranks of Fork and Spoon from volunteer to Head Chef and Front of House Manager in January of 2019. Her experience stems from culinary school, teaching culinary fundamentals, receiving a Master’s in Sustainable Food Systems and Dietetics, and working under acclaimed chefs in Colorado. Leah works to ensure that creating a meal is a comprehensive event from the development of farmer relationships to the service of the meal. Her main goals for her work at Fork and Spoon are to provide access to locally grown meats and produce in delicious ways, and challenging public misconceptions.
As part of BPW’s mission to support women in our community, any proceeds from our December luncheon will be donated to the Fork & Spoon!
We will also be voting in our 2020 Bozeman BPW board members and ask that all current Bozeman BPW members be present to vote.
Cost: $20 for members, $30 for non-members
