Vegan Potluck with special guest Miss Montana USA 2020

Celebrate International Women's Day with Miss Montana USA at Live and Let Livingston's monthly vegan potluck Sunday, March 8, 2019 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm Park County Senior Center (206 South Main Street, Livingston) Many people know that the best way to conserve water and reduce greenhouse gases is to eat a plant-sourced diet, but Veganism is also Feminism. Why? Simply put, animal-derived dairy and eggs are products of exploitation of the female reproductive system. Even many animal-lovers are unaware of the cycle of misery and violence (rape, confinement, kidnapping, and infanticide) that is the “standard industry practice” required to steal the nursing milk and eggs of another species. The monthly Live and Let Livingston Vegan Food Potluck will take place at the Park County Senior Center, 206 South Main Street, on Sunday, March 8 at 4:30pm. The theme this month will be Celebrating Women (of all species!) Our special guest Merissa Underwood (Miss Montana USA 2020) will help with the recipe demo: cheesy tofu scramble, at 4:45pm. Following dinner, Merissa will share the story of her vegan journey and discuss how to compassionately communicate with those holding opposing viewpoints, when they are often threatened, angry, and unkind. Merissa is also a fierce environmentalist, who shares great ideas on how to use less plastic in daily life. All who choose kindness are welcome; families, tourists, animal lovers, and the veg-curious. Potluck attendees are asked to bring a friend and a 100% plant-sourced dish free of flesh, fishes, eggs, animal-derived dairy, and honey. For the benefit of those with allergies, people are also asked to bring their recipe or a list of all ingredients used. The theme is always optional, and those who don't want to cook can bring something to drink. Live and Let Livingston meets on the second Sunday of every month, at 4:30pm. Delicious food, educational resources, and recipes are shared with those who care about their health, the planet, and the animals. Compostable paper plates, cups, utensils, napkins, and warming trays are provided, along with hot tea, coffee, and non-dairy creamers. Anywhere from 2-4 dozen people attend and there are usually several gluten-free and raw dishes offered, along with the inevitable… cupcakes! For more information or cruelty-free recipes, join Live and Let Livingston on Facebook and Vegans Rock Montana on MeetUp.com, (where recipes are listed on the message boards) or call Bonnie Goodman at 222-0321 to be added to the monthly recipe email list.
