Lecture: The Value & Imporrtance of Branding
How Much: FREE for Gallatin County nonprofit board members, staff, and volunteers
What you will learn:
A company’s brand is the most valuable asset it owns. For nonprofit organizations, establishing and cultivating a brand is crucial to successful fundraising and program delivery. This has become even more important as the global pandemic has essentially eliminated traditional fundraising strategies and programming, making it imperative that nonprofits cut through the clutter with a consistent brand message to engage donors, volunteers and beneficiaries. Consistency in branding also helps keep everyone in the organization focused on the mission. This session will help nonprofit executives, managers, employees, volunteers, and board members better understand what a brand is, how it is important, and how to create and communicate their organization's brand, brand image, and brand personality.
Our presenter:
Eric Van Steenburg is an assistant professor of marketing in the Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship at Montana State University. He earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and history from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree from UT-Dallas, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas.
Dr. Van Steenburg’s primary teaching area is integrated marketing communications, which focuses on leveraging all the communications vehicles available to marketers to spread their messages to their target audiences. In addition, he has taught digital marketing, nonprofit marketing, consumer behavior, and marketing research.
Before embarking on a career in academia, Dr. Van Steenburg spent 20 years at corporate, agency and nonprofit environments leading strategic planning and marketing efforts. This experience drives his research, which includes nonprofit marketing, political marketing, consumer behavior, and persuasive communications. By focusing on the effects of various messages in cause marketing, Dr. Van Steenburg hopes to offer practical applications for nonprofit, social and political marketing practitioners, who rely on messaging to drive fundraising, compliance and volunteerism.
