The Night Watchman and Native poetry with Dorothea Susag (OBOB)
Join us for a virtual presentation with educator Dorothea Susag through Humanities Montana on The Night Watchman, other works of Louise Erdrich, and some of the issues she sheds light on as a contemporary Native American author. These topics include an introduction to Louise Erdrich, to federal Indian policy, and to murdered and missing indigenous women and harms against Native women. Using a study guide, contemporary Native poetry and video clips, Ms. Susag will create an interactive presentation that is inspirational as well as factual and informative.
Dorothea Susag, of Fairfield, MT, is a retired language arts and Heritage Project teacher, a 1992-93 Christa McAuliffe Fellowship recipient, author of Roots and Branches: a Resource of Native American Literature Themes, Lessons, and Bibliographies, as well as several secondary-level units for the Montana Office of Public Instruction Indian Education. She conducts workshops for teachers and students across the state.
