2021 Fall Tour: Bridger Foothills Fire

At this time last year, the Bridger Foothills Fire raged through the Bridger Canyon, destroying 68 structures, including 30 homes, evacuating hundreds of residents and ultimately burning over 8,000 acres before being quelled by snow in early October. Our community showed up in force to support recovery efforts, providing food, shelter and emotional support for those affected. A year later, landowners are continuing their efforts to rebuild as well as address natural resource recovery. A number of conservation groups have worked together over the last year to bolster resources and provide assistance as widely as possible as well as identify strategies for mitigating the potential impacts of future fires.

Fall tour participants will have a chance to visit the properties of landowners that were affected by the fire and learn about restoration efforts and regeneration that has occurred over the last year. Participants will also learn about fuels reduction techniques and see examples of fire mitigation efforts at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center. Additional tour logistics and details will be released in the coming weeks.
