Preschool Science Workshop

Montana State University’s Science Math Resource Center will host a free online presentation for Montana preschool-aged children and their caregivers at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24. The presentation is called Leap into Science, which is a national program of the Franklin Institute that integrates open-ended science activities with children’s books.

The program is designed for children aged 3 through 6, and they should attend with a parent, teacher or caregiver. The presentation lasts about 40 minutes. Preschools or other groups such as libraries are welcome to participate. All participants should have internet access, a screen large enough to share the video with the children (audio is also necessary) and enough adult caregivers present to facilitate activities. One adult from the group should be able to chat or speak interactively with the presenters.

The theme of the workshop is wind, and students and teachers will learn about kites, tools for measuring the wind and how to think like a scientist. The workshop is supported by the NASA AEROKATS and ROVER Education Network (NASA AREN), which uses kites and land-based rovers to study the Earth.
