Yellowstone Flood Relief
Recently, severe floods have washed out roads, destroyed bridges and dislodged houses from riversides in and around Yellowstone National Park. To support immediate relief efforts in and adjacent to the park in the wake of this destruction, NPCA is organizing and hosting an event alongside local conservation organizations in Bozeman, Montana and a virtual silent auction to raise funds for The Southwest Montana Relief Fund - a joint effort between the Park County Community Foundation (PCCF) and Greater Gallatin United Way - and The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation. Participating organizations include: Greater Yellowstone Coalition, The Wilderness Society, One Montana, The Nature Conservancy, Natural Resource Defense Council, Park County Environmental Council, Mountain Time Arts and more.
At the event, our partners in the local Yellowstone community who are working as part of the relief effort will share information about the effects of the flooding and how relief funds will benefit Yellowstone and the surrounding communities, with speakers from the Park County Community Foundation, Greater Gallatin United Way and the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation. The event will also feature a musical performance by Ryan Acker.
NPCA's partner, Limestone Branch Distillery, will be matching donations made in conjunction with the event up to $50,000. All proceeds raised from the event and silent auction will benefit the aforementioned relief funds for immediate needs like emergency shelter, drinking water, food and clothing as well as clean-up and rebuilding efforts.
As this year marks 150 years since Yellowstone National Park's designation, this devastation is a reminder of the ongoing need to support parks and the communities around them. Regardless of whether you are able to make a donation, all are welcome to join us in Bozeman as we rally the community together in support of the park and those affected by the floods. Your support is essential to the relief efforts and we're grateful for your participation in whatever form it comes.
