The Stibitz-Wilson Awards

Join the American Computer & Robotics Museum for the Stibitz-Wilson Awards on Friday, September 23rd at The Ellen Theater. This free community event celebrates innovators at the cutting edge of the computational and biological sciences. This year’s honorees are Paula Apsell, J. Craig Venter, and Steve Wozniak. Established in 1997, the Stibitz-Wilson Awards honor past and present innovators at the cutting edge of the computational and biological sciences. The Awards are named for inventor George Stibitz, whose work at Bell Labs in the 1930s helped set the stage for modern digital computing, and for biologist Edward O. Wilson, who made landmark contributions to our understanding of the complex web of life on Earth. Paula Apsell: Paula’s influential career in public media and science journalism includes 33 years at the helm of PBS's NOVA. J. Craig Venter: Craig’s invaluable contributions to genomic research have earned him a spot as a leading scientist of the 21st century. Steve Wozniak: Steve’s foundational work at Apple in the 1970s and 1980s places him at the forefront of the personal computer revolution. Event Details: Friday, September 23rd 5pm to 7pm (doors open at 4pm) The Ellen Theater Tickets are FREE, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
