The Falling and the Rising

Enjoy a behind-the-scenes conversation with Intermountain Opera Bozeman Artistic Director and conductor Michael Sakir and stage director Ned Canty. Then, take in an open "sitzprobe" (or sitting rehearsal) with singers and orchestra of IOB's fall production "The Falling and the Rising." This new American opera by Zach Redler and Jerre Dye was commissioned by the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus to create an emotional connection between the public and the military who protects them. Just 80 minutes long and based on real life interviews with wounded veterans, "The Falling and the Rising" beautifully portrays the struggles, sacrifices and strength of the men and women who serve us every day. Participants will walk away with a deeper appreciation of the personal stories behind real-life military member experiences, as well as how poignantly music and storytelling can be used to promote empathy and human connection.

October 31, 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Crawford Theatre at the Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture. Registration is not required.
