Homeless Persons Memorial Event
Gallatin Valley agencies host a candlelit vigil on the longest night of the year.
On Wednesday, Dec. 21, starting at 6 p.m. at Bozeman Public Library, the Bozeman community will recognize Homeless Persons' Memorial Day. The event will kick off with a candlelight vigil, messages of hope, and a moment of silence on the front lawn of the library.
National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day takes place each year on the longest night of the year. The event is dedicated to remembering neighbors who have died while homeless in the past year and is presented in partnership with agencies in the Gallatin Valley including Greater Gallatin Continuum of Care, HRDC, the Dahl Funeral and Cremation Service, local faith organizations, and more.
“We encourage everyone in the community attend and remember our unhoused neighbors who have passed away,” Corey Sloan, Department Head of Adult Programming & Outreach at Bozeman Public Library, stated.
Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly as this is an outside event. Light refreshments will be provided thanks to the Bozeman Library Foundation.
