Comics and the Notion of Identity with Dr. John Townsend-Mehler
Since Superman first appeared approximately 85 years ago, the idea of identity in comics (secret identities, the formation of identity, etc.) has been a broad and important central theme. This talk will explore the perception of identity in comics, how it has evolved over time, and why it is important. Dr. Townsend-Mehler grew up in Oregon and Michigan. He moved to Bozeman with his family 10 years ago and began teaching at MSU. He is the Lab Coordinator for the Ecology Department and teaches courses on both Entomology and comics.
