Spring for Food - Food Drive
HRDC is hosting its annual spring food drive for its Gallatin Valley Food Bank. The food bank has set a goal of gathering 15,000 pounds of donated food with an emphasis on both securing fresh produce and shelf-stable items to help support our community’s neighbors in need.
Spring for Food will take place at grocery stores across Bozeman and Belgrade from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 8th and will shine a light on the prevalence of food insecurity as well as the benefit of providing fresh and nutritious foods for customers at the food bank. Using supermarkets as a central donation point allows community members the convenience of making food donations while they are shopping.
Holder continued, “We know the number one way we can support our community is to help ensure no one goes to bed hungry. The measures we take through our KidsPack, and school pantry programs connect kids with nutritional food options throughout the year. Each week we deliver 550 grocery bags of food directly to school-aged children and assist an additional 800 students a month through our school pantry programs, but we can’t do this alone. Our community has a track record of generosity, and we are most grateful for every ounce of support we receive.”
HRDC acknowledges First Security Bank, Cardinal Distributing, and KBZK for supporting the upcoming food drive. Volunteers from the community are invited to assist in collecting food at participating grocery stores and can sign up for a shift at https://hrdc9.galaxydigital.com. New this year, is an opportunity to donate online through a QR code for those who may not be planning to visit a grocery store on Saturday. Contributions in every form — whether food donations, monetary gifts, or volunteer work — directly support HRDC’s ability to distribute groceries to area families in need.
