Crankie Fest

What in the world is a crankie, you ask? Crankies are a form of visual storytelling with a rich and wonderful history. A crankie theater is a box built with two spools inside. The spools have handles that can be ‘cranked’ to bring movement to an illustrated scroll that is wound from one spool to the other.

Crankie Fest will feature mythical creature themed crankie performances with visiting crankie artist Katherine Fahey and ten original crankies handmade by Montana artists. Performances will take place at 4:30 and 7pm on Saturday, May 6th and Sunday May 7th at the Beall Park Recreation Center.

These shows are recommended for ages 5 - 105 (not recommended for under age 5).

Tickets are free, with a suggested donation of $18/ticket for those whose budget allows. Space is very limited so please only reserve tickets you plan to use!
