MT Special Olympics State Games

After a couple years of limited and modified Summer Games, the much-anticipated Special Olympics Montana State a Summer Games return to full participation this year in Bozeman.

The Special Olympics Montana State Summer Games provide competition in seven sports including bocce, track and field, golf, gymnastics, soccer, swimming, and cycling. The State Summer Games also offer Motor Activities Training Program (MATP). MATP is for the athlete who does not yet possess the skills necessary to participate in the official Special Olympics sports or whose disability is more profound, the Motor Activities Training Program exists. 

Special Olympics Montana (SOMT) is expecting approximately 1,000 athletes and 200 unified partners to compete. Athletes with intellectual disabilities, who are 8 years or older, are welcomed. Nearly one third of Special Olympics Montana athletes are 22 years of age or older. Participating athletes and unified partners may qualify for USA and World Games. 

Providing a smooth and memorable experience requires incredible support. SOMT estimates that 950-1,000 volunteers will be needed for the May 17-19th games. Opportunities are extensive and varied!
