Westgate Village: Bozeman’s First Shopping Center and Contribution to Mid-Century Architecture

Westgate Village Shopping Center was designed by renowned Bozeman architect, Hugo Eck, and was built as Bozeman’s first multi-unit shopping center in 1957. The five-unit commercial building was built at the northwest entrance to Montana State College (MSC, now Montana State University) along the busy thoroughfare of West College Avenue. The property was developed in response to the growing population in Bozeman and sharply increasing numbers of students attending MSC following the end of World War II.
