Bozeman Doc Series: The Eternal Memory
On Sunday, November 5th, at 7pm at the Museum of the Rockies, the Bozeman Doc Series continues with the Montana premiere of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning documentary, The Eternal Memory.
Augusto and Paulina have been together and in love for 25 years. Eight years ago, their lives were forever changed by Augusto’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. One of Chile’s most prominent cultural commentators and television presenters, Augusto now struggles to hold on to his identity with the help of his beloved Paulina, a famous actress and former Chilean Minister of Culture. Day by day, the couple face this challenge head-on, relying on the tender affection and sense of humor shared between them that remains, remarkably, fully intact. A profound and moving love story, The Eternal Memory balances vibrant individual and collective remembrance with the longevity of an unbreakable human bond.
Directed by Oscar-nominated Maite Alberdi, The Eternal Memory world-premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival to widespread critical acclaim.
“Maite Alberdi brings us one of the most heartfelt renditions of life, love, and memory in recent years of cinema.” The Chicago Reader
“What rings truest and richest about The Eternal Memory, as exquisitely humane a film as you’re likely to see all year, is what abiding love and stewardship look like in the moment.” The Los Angeles Times
“A moving chronicle…achingly tender…ample recollections of Augusto’s professional life and his passionate commitment to resistance and remembrance are woven delicately by editor Carolina Siraqyan into the tapestry of his quarter-century with Pauli to create a portrait that’s powerfully emotional and warmly romantic. The strain often shows on both their faces and the pain of forgetting cuts deep. But the strength of their relationship and the glimpses of the vibrant, intelligent man still there beneath the haze make this film as unexpectedly stirring as it is sorrowful.” The Hollywood Reporter
The screening will be held in the Hager Auditorium at the Museum of the Rockies. Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets are available at the door or before the show online at www.bozemandocseries.org, where you can also buy Season Passes and 7-film punch cards, learn more about the series, and view trailers for upcoming films.
