Movie Night: Unzipped: An Autopsy of American Inequality (2021)

Once a month the library will host a summer movie night showing a documentary. Bring your own beanbag and join us for a quiet evening. (Regular chairs will be also provided.)

Movie starts at 6:00PM in the Cottonwood Room.

November Movie is Unzipped: An Autopsy of American Inequality (2021) 90 minutes. A searing exposé into the alarming humanitarian crisis in America’s own backyard: over half a million people experiencing homelessness. Focusing on one of Los Angeles’ most iconic neighborhoods, the film explores how Venice became a frontline in America’s battle over the increasing lack of affordable housing, further heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. With moving stories and the depiction of contentious battles, UNZIPPED explodes stereotypes about this controversial issue and digs into the root causes of the problem, its intersection with rising inequality, racial and class disparities, untreated mental illness as well as possible future actions, featuring contributions from leading politicians, experts, and unhoused advocates.
