Spotlight on History: Montana and the Bison

Join Living History Manager Peter Mousseau in the Paugh History Hall to explore the significance of the bison, the iconic symbol of the American West. Discover how the once-massive herds of bison have shaped the Great Plains and the people who have depended on them for thousands of years.

Handle real buffalo fur and learn how each part of the animal was utilized by Indigenous peoples. This event is a great complement to the exhibition, "Conserving America's Wildlands: The Vision of Rhett Turner."
