Symphony Storytime
Area parents are encouraged to bring their young children to a dynamic, fun, and entertaining Symphony Storytime with a Bassoon at the Bozeman Public Library’s Community Room during their regular Toddler and Preschool Storytime on Wednesday, March 20, at 10:15 a.m. The free program presented by the Bozeman Symphony is especially for children ages 3 to 5. Children will be able to listen to a story read by Montana Shakespeare in the Parks actor Emma Rather who is teaching at The Verge and The Ellen Theatre in Bozeman. As Rather reads, the Bozeman Symphony Bassoonist Sam Macken, a Cherokee Nation Scholar, will play the musical accompaniment. Following the story, Macken will also play a brief piece that highlights the bassoon. The goal of Symphony Storytime is to encourage a love of music, literacy, and discovery, according to Education and Community Engagement Coordinator Cierra Wallace. Collaborating with various community partners, the Symphony wants to expose children to a diverse selection of stories, cultures, authors, narrative styles, readers, instruments, music, and musicians. Students at Belgrade HRDC Head Start will hear the story on the same day. Future Symphony Storytime programs are scheduled at the Library and Head Start on April 10 and June 12.
