Reaching New Heights: Lessons in Business and Life

Karen Rose, managing director of commercial leasing for One World Trade Center in New York City, will present “Reaching New Heights: Lessons in Business and Life” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in Jabs Hall, Room 111, on the Montana State University campus.

Presented by the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship as part of the Orser Executive Speakers Forum, the talk is free and open to the public.

As a lifelong New Yorker, Rose will share lessons she has learned in business and life. She will also discuss New York’s office market and the ever-present “Flight to Quality” — when companies shift their focus from traditionally more economic real estate solutions to a more holistic-based approach in times of economic uncertainty. She will also discuss the health of commercial markets, the importance of adding amenities to properties and the ripple effect of these trends on commercial markets nationwide.

Rose is responsible for negotiations, leasing, marketing and maintaining tenancy of the Western Hemisphere’s tallest building. Rose joined the real estate company The Durst Organization in 2002 and worked with the midtown office leasing team for 10 years before focusing her efforts solely on the 3 million-square-foot building. Throughout her tenure, she has worked to secure leases with such tenants as Bank of America, the Big East Conference, MGM, National Life Insurance and Olam Group International.

Rose has earned certificates in both real estate finance and property management at New York University. A graduate of the University of Maryland, she holds a bachelor’s degree in hearing and speech science. She is a member of the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association and the Real Estate Board of New York, and she sits on the event committee of the UJA Real Estate Executives.

The David B. Orser Executive Speakers Forum is a continuing component of a program launched in 1988 by Orser, a 1966 MSU graduate and retired business executive. It aims to bring leaders to the college to inspire students to pursue careers as innovative, responsible and ethical business leaders.
