First-Gen Photo Exhibition — All of November in the Renne Library Bobcat Browse area. Photos and thoughts of first-generation students, faculty and staff will be displayed in the library.

National First-Generation College Celebration Kickoff — 10-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4 at the Renne Library. Hosted by the first-generation celebration committee, snacks and beverages will be available to mingle and celebrate the week of National First-Generation College Celebration Day, which is Nov. 8.

Famous First-Gen Display — Nov. 4 to Nov. 15 at the Associated Students of MSU Office in the Strand Union Building. Photos and information about famous first-gen students will be in the windows of the ASMSU office.

First-Gen Experiences: A First-Gen Student Panel — 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 in SUB Ballroom B. MSU’s first-generation committee will host a discussion on the resilience, struggles and experiences of first-gen students on and off campus.

First-Generation Student Admissions Webinar — 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 online. Aimed at future students, this webinar will focus on services and resources available to help support MSU’s first-gen students.

First-Generation Story Night — 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 in SUB Ballroom A. First-gen Bobcats and community members will share their stories in fun, fast-paced presentations.

Exploring the Ways Jargon Influences Access and Success for First-Gen Students Webinar — Noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 in the Renne Library Heathcote Classroom. This session will focus on how college knowledge and institutional jargon can be an access and success challenge for first-gen students; examine jargon examples through research, data and case studies; and determine steps to reduce jargon and broaden language and communication to be more inclusive of all students and community members.

First-Generation Book Group: Session 3 — 2-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 in the Renne Library Teaching Space, Room 324. Chapters 5, 6 and 7 of “College Belonging” will be discussed. Reservations are required.
